Raymond (Ray) G. Drift, Jr, 65, of Grovetown, GA, passed away on April 15, 2025.
Born in Somerville, NJ, he lived in the Hopewell, NJ area until moving to Wellsboro, PA during his teens. Raymond attended Penn Tech-Williamsport for heavy equipment operation before relocating to Hillsborough, NJ. He was employed by the Hillsborough Township Department of Public Works as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for almost 35 years, before retiring and relocating to Grovetown in 2021, happy to never plow snow again.
Ray enjoyed classic cars, cooking, old school cartoons and TV shows like Cops, stand-up comedy specials, and cooking competitions. He loved his dogs, Remington and Cheyenne. Most important to Ray was spending time with his family. When he met his wife of 29 years, Teresa, although he'd never had kids of his own, he immediately stepped up to be an amazing father to her two daughters. He would often leave Teresa drawings on napkins and notes to his “Sweety”. Ray helped everyone around him and never asked for anything in return, and as a mechanic, we had him fix everything!
Ray was predeceased by his father and mother, Raymond and Betty Drift as well as his in-laws, Anthony and Camille Pioli. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Drift, daughter Toni Gushue and her fiancee, Nichole Steward, daughter Desiree Moczydlowski and her husband, Stephen Seltzer, and grandsons, who were his “best buddies” Anthony Tacak and Dante Seltzer.
Services will be private and Ray will be interned at Pineview Memorial in North Augusta, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Beta Club, of which his grandson, Anthony, is a member. https://www.betaclub.org/donate/
